YES!! The year is nearly 3 weeks old and already we have had the drama of what every soap writer’s dreams are made of!! I didn’t think that my first Why we’re in love with…. DRAMA! would be our first topic this year; yet here we all are!!

Politics: Let’s start with the political bits first…. Yes. BREXIT!! Was I the only one that did not realise that Brexiteers were going to hold parties on the 31st of this month at precisely 11pm? And why do they need Big Ben to ring? I thought he was undergoing cosmetic surgery! Are there going to be Wicker Man-style parties too? What does one wear to such occasions? All the answers and more will be coming to a town near you…. no doubt.

The Bunchkins are getting a little more feisty in their ways. Why did no one write and send me a memo on how 10 year old children are now? There’s the school dramas, the hormones, the very definiteness of everything. It really is like talking to a brick wall and again, why did NOBODY tell me about the hormones??

Can we talk about how my child literally just moved to the other side of the room when I was unable to tell him what MCU actually meant. I thought I knew but when the crucial question “what do you think it stands for Mum?” actually came up, I stumbled. He mumbled “Who are you right now?” dramatic turned and said “It’s Marvel Cinematic Universe Mum!!”

Both children are looking to start their own businesses because clearly my non-existent pocket money agreement has only brought rebellion and madness into my house.

On the other hand Princess Bunchkin Elle is doing the absolute most!! For a one year old, she is pretty amazing! Her communication skills are phenomenal. She is learning to sign and although words are forming into mini yelps and shouty noises and giggles, she is able to tell us when she needs a nappy change, animals and when she’s going to get washed. And she has a really great sense of humour. Yes, I am a proud Aunty!

All things Royal: Now what would January 2020 be without any talk of Harry and Meghan?? Apart from the fact that their news so dominated the headlines that we quite forgot about Prince Andrew and his shananigans and also whatever is happening with Brexit still remains a mystery…. Yes. They jacked it all in. Said ciao, adios, we’re done. And in all fairness, I for one cannot blame them. If you were in a workplace and being harassed, commented on and picked at everyday before, during and after your pregnancy, would you stay there or would you bring in the unions to fight your case? From Harry’s point of view, having seen what the press has done to your mother and seeing the same thing done to your wife, only true love can push you to give up a particular lifestyle and take a lower pay cheque. Like the best of us that have faced harrassment and bullying in the workplace and just said enough is enough.

Reality TV: Finally, Love Island has come for an unprecendented Winter Season….. are you ready? What do you think? I’m loving it right now!!#
